When I first heard of a plagiarism remover tool, I honestly did not know what it meant. How does one go about removing plagiarism? The obvious answer to me was not plagiarizing in the first place. That was before I had to help with a technical rewriting of a manual. I knew the material well, so I thought it would be easy. The goal was to get away from the technical jargon as much as possible. The intent was to make the manual very easy for just about anyone to not only read but to also understand it.
It took me around a week to finish it, and my boss told me he was going to run it through a program that searches for plagiarism. I knew that I had not copied anything from the older more tech-y manual, so I was not concerned when he told me this. When he brought it back to my office and showed me that there was a lot of extreme similarities between the two manuals, I admit that I felt a bit sheepish. Actually, I felt a lot sheepish because I thought that this was an easy project to have to do.
I was very thankful that he had run it through the plagiarism checker because I would have never known just how much of the old manual I took into the new manual. I was able to look at what I had written with new eyes, and I realized that I still had not made it easy enough for a layman to read it and understand it. I really tackled it hard with a new approach, and I was very satisfied when my boss told me that it came through the plagiarism checker with flying colors.
